Responsibilities/Expectations
- Lead and direct sales team within area of responsibility.
- Lead and manage up to 6 direct reports
- Has the ability to influence the hiring and firing of employees, including promotions and assignments.
- Coach and council direct reports on opportunities to improve.
- Has the ability to discipline direct repots for performance-based issues or violations of company policies
- Ride with each assigned Salesperson a minimum of twice a month to train, coach and council on the execution of Cone Distributing's Retail Standards.
- Must have the ability to teach and work with the company's route accounting software.
- Must have the ability to pull detailed sales reports from the companies RAS software and the ability to read and interpret sales data.
- Check accounts for quality assurance (dates) while conducting monthly ride-along on each direct report.
- Participate in weekend pull-up activities as scheduled; find a replacement if you cannot attend your assigned day.
- Participate in scheduled key holiday and special event pull- up activity.
- Participate in scheduled large format crew drives and monthly Pride Rides.
- Be able to score retail look in assigned Pride Ride accounts via Retail Look app.
- Provide feedback, written and verbal, to each salesperson after each ride and develop next steps to address all opportunities.
- Conduct semiannual formal meetings with each salesperson to discuss progress toward both personal and professional goals.
- The proper adherence to and the enforcement of Cone Distributing Inc. Disciplinary Policies.
- Meet with sales team member weekly to ensure goals and objectives are set to attain monthly sales plan objectives (MBOs). This will include all display and distribution goals set out at the beginning of each month.
- Monitor salesperson route book via Encompass monthly to ensure ordering and inventory documentation is occurring.
- Attend and participate in all sales meetings.
- Follow up on assigned surveys, Ad Tracker, MBO updates, and QA Closures.
- Attend assigned Monthly Management meetings two times a month, or as scheduled.
- Provide input into the ordering of Litho and permanent POS for your area.
- Bi-monthly contact with accounts that drive 50% of your assigned area's volume.
- Track and can communicate executional updates when asked.
- Work jointly with the Key Account Managers, NA Brand Managers, Craft Managers, and salesmen to pro-actively sell Cone Distributing products.
- Check in and talk to daily all direct reports each morning before 7 A.M.
- Ensure the execution of all chain, national and local sales & marketing programs.
- Sell and help schedule cooler resets for independents.
- Participate in scheduled chain sets as a team lead for either large or small format, when scheduled.
- Maintain and enforce proper dress and appearance standards.
- Work with Cone Distributing supplier reps as scheduled.
- Work with Impact Manager of Key Accounts Managers when scheduled.
- Schedule and attend cross training with delivery or merchandising counterparts.
- Conduct inspections of assigned equipment (I- phone, I-Pad etc.) and vehicles. Report vehicle issues to the mechanic on duty immediately.
- Maintain established benchmarks in your assigned impact accounts.
- Develop a twice a month call frequency on all assigned impact accounts and with key store managers/owners with a selling purpose. Selling Purpose-The ability to consistently review business related issues and opportunities (review sales, cooler reset, package placements, display authorizations, etc.)
- Conduct a team meeting with a written typed agenda a minimum of one time a month.
- Attend training programs when scheduled (possible Saturday dates TBD)
- Fill out monthly planning calendar and post a copy in the hallway.
- Assist in the placement of permanent and litho POS in your area.
- Maintain a safe driving record. Report any driving related issues to HR immediately.
- Participate in late afternoon/evening pull ups during home game weekends when assigned
- Ability to take on other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of the brewing industry.
- A sound understanding of related laws and regulations regarding the sale and merchandising of alcoholic beverages.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks within your area.
- Good organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills for both internal and external communication. Must be able to communicate both with store personnel, delivery, and sales personnel, as well with members of Team Cone management and their suppliers.
- The ability to operate mobile devices such as I-Phones, I-pads, laptops, etc.
- Ability to work with PC data bases.
- Must possess some basic computer skill sets such a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.
- Ability to execute Cone Distributing Retail Call Standards and provide recommendations to subordinates that address all areas of opportunity.
- Must possess detailed understanding of Cone Distributing Rotation and Out of Code policies.
- Must possess professional sales presentation skills that can be utilized at the District and Store Manager levels.
- A basic understanding on how to read and interpret syndicated information (Nielsen, IRI, BIF Report, etc.) and uses it in selling situations.
- The ability to do cooler sets as well as the ability read cooler set planograms.
- Ability to provide a clear sense of priority, focus and team leadership as it relates to executing both business and personal objectives in self and subordinates.
- Able to work weekends.
- Class A CDL & current DOT Physical Card.
- Able to pass drug and background check
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2-year college degree preferred but not required. Will consider experience in the field
- 5 years' experience in the beverage/ distribution industry.
