Background
The mission of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is to "promote public safety and strengthen domestic security by providing services in partnership with local, state, and federal criminal justice agencies to prevent, investigate, and solve crime while protecting Florida's citizens and visitors."

In support of this mission, FDLE operates and maintains Florida's central repository of criminal justice information for the state's law enforcement and criminal justice agencies, licensing and regulatory agencies, business community, private citizens, and policy makers. This repository is known as Florida's Computerized Criminal History (CCH) system. This work is performed under the authority of section 943.05, Florida Statutes (F.S.) and Chapter 11C, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.). Florida's central repository is the 4th largest criminal history system in the nation. FDLE works to provide services to help protect the safety of all Floridians and visitors. Both public and officer safety are the core of FDLE's mission. In order to provide the highest level of services possible, FDLE recently implemented a new CCH system.

FDLE requires the services of one Database Modeler for Information Technology Services Project's Office development initiatives related to the use of CCH data.

Position Responsibilities
The Database Modeler will work under the direction of FDLE's ITS Project's Office to achieve the goals and objectives related to the evaluation and quality of CCH data. The Database Modeler will perform Data Administration activities using Informatica Data Quality software to analyze, profile and assess the quality of existing legacy CCH data sources in preparation for migration to a new CCH software system and new database design.

Data Modeler responsibilities include but may not be limited to the following:
Analysis of the use of CCH data across multiple platforms
Maintains the implemented Informatica Data Quality and Data Cleansing software and infrastructure.
Administers project team access to the Informatica Data Analysis, Data Quality and Data Cleansing environments
Maintains and elaborates existing data profiling and cleansing plans and strategy
Maintains and elaborates existing Informatica data source repository
Maintains and elaborates existing Informatica data source repository update/refresh processes
Maintains and elaborates existing and new Informatica data profiling configurations, scheduled processes, programs and scripts
Documents, maintains and elaborates data cleansing inventory based on data profiling results
Maintains and elaborates existing documented FDLE CCH data dictionary artifacts
Performs ad-hoc data profiling of CCH data sources utilizing Informatica Data Quality software
Maintains and elaborates existing data-related business rules and requirements
Analyzes data requirements, application and processing architectures, data dictionaries, and database schema(s)
Maintains and elaborates existing logical and physical data models of CCH data using Erwin or Visio modeling tools
Provide consultant assistance to contracted vendor data conversion/migration planning providing required information when needed
Serves as the FDLE project team's central point of contact regarding CCH database planning
Creates and updates documentation as required by project team
Reviews and provides feedback on project artifacts and deliverables as required by project team
Participates in team meetings

Deliverables
Data profiling strategy for CCH data
Data quality evaluation plan
Inventory of all data sources
Comprehensive logical and physical data model of all CCH data and interfaces

Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience;
Minimum of 3 years of recent experience performing Data Analysis, Data Profiling, Data Quality Assessment utilizing Informatica Data Quality software
Minimum of 2 years of recent experience installing, configuring and maintaining Informatica Data Quality software in a Unix or Linux operating system environment
Minimum of 5 years of experience performing Data Administration tasks (Data Analysis, Data Profiling, Data Quality Assessment, Data Cleansing) utilizing any tool or software
Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a Unix or Linux OS environment performing shell scripting with bash or ksh
Minimum of 5 years of experience performing Data Design and Data Modeling utilizing toolsets (ErWin, Visio, Oracle Designer)
Skill utilizing and applying software engineering methods and techniques for the design, definition, development, evaluation, integration, and/or support of IT solutions
Ability to work independently or cooperatively with software developers
Ability and experience functioning as a technical consultant or researcher
Experience performing analysis, troubleshooting and resolving system defects and issues.
Skill with using defined procedures to configure, test and debug software
Skill with investigating, analyzing and resolving problems on software products
Ability to work with minimal supervision from more senior resources; to accomplish assigned projects; including, services/products/technology solution evaluation/modification, data development, analysis, drafting written communications and client interaction
Experience evaluating client capabilities and gathering business needs
Experience assisting with services/products/technology solution architecture design and installation

Preferred Experience
8 years of experience working with Oracle RDBMS software and databases (version 11g or more recent)
8 years of experience developing SQL, PL/SQL scripts, procedures, functions and packages
5 years of experience planning, developing and executing data conversion/migration plans, processes and programs
Experience facilitating analysis sessions with business clients
Experience presenting technical subject matter reviews or seminars to business clients
Experience designing and executing quality control and test procedures

The Database Modeler will report to the designated FDLE supervisor, and is expected to perform the tasks and specific assignments given by the FDLE supervisor.
