The Division of Research seeks to fill the role of IGNITE Communications & Marketing Manager.

The Strategic Partnerships and Innovation team within the Division of Research consists of the IGNITE Incubation Program, Commercialization, and Business & Industry Solutions organizational units. This position primarily supports the IGNITE Incubation Program and Commercialization. The IGNITE Incubation Program promotes, encourages, and enhances the research activities of FSU faculty, staff, and students, and brings together the strengths of FSU and the region, providing a critical interface to move university and community research into the marketplace, stimulate high-tech and biotech industries, and create jobs. Clients are FSU faculty, staff, and students; small business owners; and technology and economic development leaders in the community, especially representatives of government, business, and industry. https://www.research.fsu.edu/ignite-tallahassee/

Commercialization is responsible for the identification, evaluation, development, protection, and commercialization of FSU intellectual property rights. For Commercialization, marketing and communication is primarily outward facing telling the stories of the public impacts of the utilization of research results and marketing to promote partnerships and find partners to develop and advance FSU intellectual property. https://www.research.fsu.edu/research-offices/oc

Responsibilities

The IGNITE Communications & Marketing Manager is responsible for developing an overall marketing and communications strategy for the IGNITE Incubation Program and Commercialization within the Strategic Partnerships & Innovation team. The position reports directly to the IGNITE Program Director of the incubation program and indirectly to the Associate Director for Strategic Partnerships & Innovation. The IGNITE Communications & Marketing Manager serves in a professional communicator role and requires training and experience in oral and written communication.

Responsibilities include:
  • Developing and implementing an overall marketing and communications strategy for the IGNITE Incubation Program and Commercialization, as well as leading, coordinating, and executing strategic initiatives to enhance visibility and community engagement. Developing visual and written content and material that represents the marketing identity of Strategic Partnerships & Innovation team and the FSU Division of Research.
  • Creating, editing, and delivering high profile marketing and promotional materials such as brochures, flyers, newsletters, and digital & multimedia content. Draft and maintain updated marketing collateral for both external and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordination on a wide variety of programs and activities designed to promote and publicize strategic initiatives (including but not limited to conferences, events, exhibition booths, roadshows, etc.). Engagement and collaboration with community and partner organizations to increase awareness of program initiatives.
  • Lead and execute multichannel marketing campaigns in coordination with the communication team in the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR).
  • Serves as a media contact; organizes and coordinates events, seminars, forums, and press releases in coordination with FSU OVPR and University Communications & Marketing.
  • Other duties as assigned related to the marketing and communication for Strategic Partnerships & Innovation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years' experience related to media, communications, and/or marketing services or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with university research, incubation, or technology transfer communications and marketing or other technology-based area.

Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills and demonstrated project management skills.
