Paraprofessional - Summer School Responsibilities
Classroom Support
Assist with instruction: Support teacher-led lessons, small group instruction, and literacy/math interventions
Student supervision: Monitor students during independent work, transitions, and classroom activities
Behavior management: Reinforce classroom expectations, redirect off-task behavior, and implement positive reinforcement strategies
One-on-one support: Provide individualized assistance to students who need extra help or accommodations
Instructional Materials & Preparation
Prepare materials: Copy worksheets, organize activity materials, and set up learning stations
Organize resources: Arrange manipulatives, technology, and classroom supplies for lessons
Data collection: Record student performance, attendance, and progress toward learning goals
Grade work: Check assignments and record grades under teacher direction
Student Support Services
Attendance tracking: Monitor and record daily attendance
Health & safety: Assist with basic first aid, medication administration (if trained), and emergency procedures
Lunch/recess supervision: Supervise students during meal times and outdoor activities
Transportation: Assist with dismissal and student transitions
Special Education & Accommodations (if applicable)
Implement IEP/504 accommodations: Follow individualized education plans and support specialized instruction
Assistive technology: Help students use adaptive equipment or software
Communication support: Use visual aids, sign language, or other communication strategies as needed
Classroom Management & Organization
Setup/cleanup: Arrange classroom furniture and materials; tidy up at end of day
Bulletin boards: Create and maintain classroom displays
Technology support: Assist with classroom devices, internet access, and educational apps
Communication & Documentation
Parent communication: Relay messages to parents about student progress (as directed by teacher)
