The VPK Teacher will be responsible for creating lessons plays to facilitate effective instruction, supervision of children, and data collection. The teacher will be responsible for planning activities based on student development in order to prepare students for Kindergarten, ensuring the well-being and engagement of all students, and documenting student progress.
Key Responsibilities:
Lesson Planning
- Developing a plan for student engagement in a daily routine of academic and social development.
- Actively engaging students, facilitating discussions, and maintaining a positive learning environment throughout the day.
Planning and Leading Small Group Activities
-Lead small group activities, focusing on specific learning objectives and adapting instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
-Supporting the paraprofessional in knowing how to accommodate learning objectives for all students.
Working with Individual Children
- Provide one-on-one support to students who require additional assistance or accommodations to participate fully in classroom activities.
- Offer encouragement, reinforcement, and constructive feedback to promote academic and social-emotional growth.
Supporting Independent Functioning
- Assist children with varying exceptionalities in developing and maintaining independence in daily activities, including toileting, dressing, and self-care tasks.
- Provide personalized support and guidance based on individual student needs to promote autonomy and confidence.
Data Collection
- Collection and documentation of student progress data, including observations, assessments, and behavioral tracking.
- Collaborate with the paraprofessional and other staff members to maintain accurate records and monitor student growth over time.
-Conducing the VPK FAST Assessment 3 times throughout the Summer session.
- Help students navigate transitions between activities, classrooms, and routines, offering support and guidance
