A Teacher of Speech (or Speech-Language Pathologist) assesses, diagnoses, and treats communication disorders in students, developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to improve articulation, language, fluency, and voice. They provide direct therapy, consult with teachers/parents, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.Typical Job ResponsibilitiesAssessment & Evaluation: Conducting screenings and comprehensive evaluations to determine eligibility for services.IEP Development & Implementation: Creating individualized goals and delivering direct, evidence-based speech and language therapy (individual or group).Documentation & Compliance: Maintaining up-to-date daily session notes, quarterly progress reports, and compliance with IDEA and state regulations.Collaboration: Working with classroom teachers, families, and specialists to support communication skills across settings.Case Management: Managing a caseload of students and attending IEP meetings.
