A Third Grade Teacher in Leon County Schools is responsible for delivering rigorous, standards-based instruction that supports students in reaching key academic milestones, particularly in reading proficiency. The teacher creates a structured, engaging learning environment that promotes critical thinking, independence, and mastery of core subjects in alignment with Florida's Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards.
Key Responsibilities:
-Plan and implement engaging lessons in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies that promote higher-order thinking skills.
-Strengthen students' reading comprehension, vocabulary, and written expression across all subject areas.
-Deliver math instruction focused on problem-solving, multi-step reasoning, and application of concepts.
-Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide data-driven instruction.
-Differentiate instruction to address diverse learning needs, including enrichment opportunities and academic interventions.
-Establish and maintain a positive, well-organized classroom environment with clear expectations for behavior and student responsibility.
-Prepare students for district and state assessments by integrating test-taking strategies and standards-based review.
-Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student performance, progress, and classroom activities.
-Collaborate with colleagues, instructional coaches, and administrators to support student achievement and school improvement goals.
-Maintain accurate records and adhere to all district, state, and federal regulations.
