This Teacher Varying Exceptionalities position will be for grades 9-12 in Math and Sciences.
Varying Exceptionalities (VE) teachers provide specialized instruction and support to students with diverse disabilities?such as autism, Down syndrome, or physical/mental differences?by developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), adapting curriculum materials, and utilizing evidence-based, differentiated instruction in both self-contained and inclusive settings.
Key duties of a VE teacher include:
Instructional Adaptation & Delivery: Planning and implementing customized lesson plans, modifying curriculum, and providing small-group or one-on-one instruction to meet varied learning needs.
IEP Development & Compliance: Writing, reviewing, and ensuring the legal implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including tracking student progress toward goals.
Collaboration: Working closely with general education teachers, therapists, psychologists, and families to support inclusion and provide behavioral support.
Assessment & Record Keeping: Administering academic, behavioral, and functional assessments to monitor progress and maintain detailed, legal documentation.
Support Services: Assisting with student personal care needs, fostering a positive environment, and providing specialized support for academic and social growth.
