Responsibilities
The Department of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Science (EOAS) at Florida State University (FSU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Chemical Oceanography / Aquatic Chemistry. We seek candidates whose research centers on aquatic chemical processes and biogeochemical cycling. Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the inorganic carbon system, ocean gas exchange, isotope geochemistry, nutrient cycling, chemical tracers of ocean circulation, aquatic / marine pollution, and modeling of chemical and biogeochemical processes in aquatic / marine systems.
The appointee is expected to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching in Oceanography and Environmental Science, as well as to supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research and creative activities. The faculty member would support core instruction in chemical oceanography while developing advanced courses in specialized areas such as biogeochemical cycles, aquatic geochemistry, isotope geochemistry, and aquatic / marine pollution. The successful candidate would develop a vigorous externally funded research program focused on aquatic / marine chemical processes and biogeochemical cycling.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Doctoral degree or the highest degree appropriate in Oceanography / Environmental Science or a related discipline.

EOAS is housed in a recent building (2020) with state-of-the-art facilities and laboratories, has approximately 35 tenure-track faculty and 100 graduate students, and offers undergraduate and/or graduate degrees in Geology, Meteorology, Oceanography, and Environmental Sciences. In addition to collaborations with other faculty within EOAS, the appointee can expect collaborations with colleagues at the Center for Ocean-Atmosphere Prediction Studies and the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory.
