Responsibilities
The Department of Earth, Ocean & Atmospheric Science (EOAS) at Florida State University (FSU) seeks a full-time tenure-track faculty member in the field of Paleobiology/Geobiology at the Assistant Professor level. Successful candidates will investigate the coevolution of life and environment with implications for planetary habitability of Earth and exoplanets, biosignatures for life (radiations and extinctions), and modern implications. Some of the research areas of interest include but are not limited to: paleobiology, geobiology, extinction dynamics, paleoecology, paleontology, biotic responses to global change, and biogeochemistry.
The appointee is expected to develop and maintain a vigorous externally funded research program and contribute to the undergraduate and graduate programs by teaching Earth History and Paleontology and providing experiential learning experiences.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in Earth Science or a related field with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.

EOAS is housed in a recent building (2020) with state-of-the-art facilities and laboratories, has approximately 35 faculty members and 110 graduate students, and offers undergraduate and/or graduate degrees in Geology, Meteorology, Oceanography, and Environmental Sciences.
