A volleyball assistant coach supports the head coach with daily operations, on-court training, and recruiting to foster student-athlete development. Key duties include leading specific drills, analyzing player performance, providing in-game strategy input, managing equipment, and ensuring compliance with league rules. This role requires flexible hours for practices, games, and travel.Key ResponsibilitiesCoaching & Instruction: Assists with practice planning, leads skill-specific training for positions (e.g., setting, blocking), and provides in-game strategy input.Recruiting: Evaluates prospective student-athletes, visits tournaments, and assists with recruiting reports, particularly at the collegiate level.Administrative Duties: Manages team logistics, such as travel arrangements, scheduling, and updating team statistics (e.g., tracking opponent serving or attacking tendencies).Player Development & Welfare: Monitors academic progress, supervises locker rooms, and ensures a safe environment, including reporting injuries, as noted. Sets up for practices and games, maintains equipment, and supports special events like parents' night or banquets.Previous volleyball coaching experience, often at the high school, club, or collegiate level. Strong understanding of volleyball rules, techniques, and strategies (e.g., blocking schemes).Education: Bachelor's degree preferred; high school diploma required for school-based positions.Certifications: CPR/First Aid certification is typically required.Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities. Ability to lift equipment and stand for long periods.
