The mission of the Office of Research (OoR) is to provide excellent service to the Anne Spencer Daves College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences faculty in the development, administration, and amplification of research efforts.
The roots of FSU's Anne Spencer Daves College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences date back to the university's establishment, and it is the oldest college of its kind in Florida. The College is home to six academic departments united through a common goal to maximize human potential. In total, the College includes the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies, Department of Educational Psychology & Learning Systems, Department of Human Development & Family Sciences, Department of Health, Nutrition & Food Sciences, Department of Sport Management, School of Teacher Education, numerous research centers, and three laboratory schools (Florida State University School, FSU Pembroke Pines Charter School, and The Collegiate School at FSU Panama City). Anne's College serves over 4,000 students via approximately 200 full-time faculty and nearly 80 full-time staff.

Responsibilities
The Associate Dean for Research serves in a leadership position, overseeing the operations of the Office of Research in the College.
Operations
- Supervising, assigning areas of responsibility, and evaluating faculty, clinical and administrative staff within the Office of Research unit (approximately 15 faculty and staff), as appropriate
- Overseeing the Office of Research (OoR) operations, including but not limited to:
- Identifying and implementing effective grant development activities and proposal tracking systems for efficient operation within the OoR
- Supervising the administration of all grants related activities effectively and with a commitment to the highest quality of customer service for faculty and staff
- Creating and implementing innovative programs expanding research activities
- Tracking and supporting grant activity, using a variety of analytical tools (e.g., Academic Analytics) to analyze proposal submissions, grant awards, journal article publications, journal article citations, and honorific awards
- Maintaining fiscal responsibility for the OoR budget, external fund sources affiliated with the OoR, and OoR SRAD funds
- Collaborating with, PIs, OoR senior editor(s), and methodologist in the conceptualization and design phases of grant proposals and other research projects
- Managing administrative facility requests, including, but not limited to Office of Research space allocation requests/usage and activities associated with research amplification
- Meeting with prospective faculty members to communicate college expectations related to all aspects of Anne's College research enterprise, including expectations for faculty grant submission, programs aligned to successful proposal development and awards, and direct Office of Research (OoR) support in grant development, including faculty research agenda development, administration, and amplification
- Assisting faculty in applying for and obtaining external funding including, but not limited to, differentiating various support mechanisms managed by the OoR
- Evaluating faculty candidate readiness to engage in grant activities and high-impact research (e.g., proposal preparation skills, likelihood of obtaining funding to support research interests, working on grant projects, publishing in high-impact journals)
- Communicating with College leadership faculty candidate readiness to undertake a robust and impactful research agenda
- Collaborating with new faculty, in conjunction with appropriate OoR personnel, to discern research interest, develop research agenda, identify funding opportunities, and develop supportive plans to apply and obtain funding across various institution specific opportunities (e.g., FYAP program)
- Developing and implementing all programs and activities related to internal research catalyst funding
- Liaising with the Office of Research Development and Sponsored Research Administration to elevate and expand Anne's College research footprint in campus-wide interdisciplinary research programs, including facilitating the management of internal grant applications, mock review panels, and faculty research profiles intra-institutionally
- Coordinating all research amplification activities, including targeted social media posts, facilitating the College's Open Access Publishing program, and enhancing programs related to indexed journal article publishing
- Serving as a visible member of the Dean's Cabinet
- Ensuring alignment of OoR activities with College strategic plans and policies
- Providing the Dean and the College leadership team with data analysis to support and inform research-related strategic planning and resource allocation decisions
- Chairing Strategic Planning Committee's Academic Quality Subcommittee
- Administering the annual Dean's Circle Catalyst Grant Program
- Leading the Academy of Scholars program and helping to coordinate all related activities throughout the year
- Ensuring the successful planning and implementation of College research events
- Coordinating all research partnerships with the Florida Department of Education
- Advising the College's department chairs on the potential impact grant activities might have on faculty workload and SRAD distribution
- Working with the OoR Program Director and at the discretion of the Dean to provide administrative support and oversight to Florida State University Schools, FSU Pembroke Pines, and the Collegiate School at Panama City
- Attending, and serving as spokesperson at, College grant-related research meetings
- Establishing strategic professional relationships with key individuals within various funding agencies (e.g., IES, NSF, NIH, Spencer Foundation, W.T. Grant Foundation)
- Developing and maintaining effective collaborative relationships with all relevant individuals and groups (e.g., FSU VP for Research, other Associate Deans for Research, Director of the Office of Research Development, FSU Office of Research, LSI, FCRR)
- Serving as a member of the Council of Associate Deans for Research (CADR)
- Serving as the College's representative member of the LEARN Coalition
- Representing the Dean or College/University interests at regional, national, or international conferences, convenings, or events at the discretion of the Dean
- Department responsibilities are limited to teaching and advising doctoral students
- Teaching responsibilities equivalent to one course per academic year in the fall or spring semester.
Qualifications
- Earned doctoral degree in a discipline related to one of the academic units in the College.
- Demonstrated success in research that would warrant tenure in a discipline within the College
- Prior experience in academic leadership at the program, center, institute, department, or college level.
- Ability to analyze data and make data-informed decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in navigating and establishing strategic professional relationships with key individuals within an institutional structure as well as governmental or private extramural funding agencies.
- Prior experience in developing and maintaining effective and collaborative college and campus relationships with individuals and groups relevant to the portfolio of responsibilities for the position.
- Prior experience developing programs to support faculty research and elevate institutional profile.
- Prior experience in supervision of organizational structures comparable to the Anne's College Office of Research.
