Responsibilities

Florida State University Schools (FSUS) is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Head Boys Soccer Coach to lead and grow our middle school and high school boys' soccer program. The Head Coach will be responsible for fostering a positive, competitive, and developmentally appropriate environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, academic accountability, and athletic excellence.

This position reports directly to the Athletic Director and is expected to uphold all FSUS, FHSAA, and FSU policies and procedures while supporting the mission and values of Florida High Athletics.
  • Lead and supervise all aspects of the Boys Soccer program (Middle School, JV, and Varsity levels).
  • Plan and conduct practives, conditioning sessions, and skill development activities.
  • Develop training plans that promote athlete safety, technical development, and competitive growth.
  • Schedule contests in accordance with FHSAA guidelines and school policies.
  • Monitor and support student-athlete academic progress and eligibility.
  • Establish effective communication with student-athletes, parents, administration, and staff.
  • Coordinate game logistics, transportation, and supervision in alignment with FSUS policies.
  • Promote the program through school communication, social media, and community engagement.
  • Organize team events, awards, and end-of-season recognition.
  • Manage equipment, uniforms, field needs, and program inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with FHSAA rules, district regulations and FSUS clearance procedures.
  • Assist with off-season development, camps, clinics, and program growth initiatives.
  • Collaborate with youth and feeder programs to strengthen the long-term success of the soccer program.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe environment for all student-athletes.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid State of Florida Coaching Certificate (or ability to obtain).
  • Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, Concussion in Sports, and Sudden Cardiac Arrest (required prior to season).
  • Experience working with children and young adults in an educational or athletic setting.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous soccer coaching experience at the middle school, high school, club, or collegiate level.
  • Knowledge of FHSAA rules and interscholastic athletics.
  • Playing experience at the high school, collegiate, or professional level.
  • College coursework or degree in Education, Kinesiology, Sports Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with player development, team management, and program building.

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check , including a fingerprint-based screening via AHCA's Clearinghouse pursuant to Section 1012, Florida Statutes, for positions in a FSU Developmental Research School or Section 409.175, Florida Statutes, for positions in a Childcare or Summer Camp position. This position requires working evenings, weekends, and travel for contests and post-season competitions.
