The ESE Para Professional provides direct instructional and behavioral support to students with disabilities under the supervision of a certified ESE teacher. This position supports both push-in services (general education classroom) and pull-out services (resource room/specialized setting), ensuring students receive differentiated instruction, behavioral support, and accommodations necessary for academic and social success.
## Primary Responsibilities
### Push-In Services (General Education Classroom Support)
* Assist the ESE teacher in delivering small group or individualized instruction within the general education classroom
* Monitor student progress on IEP goals and objectives during general education instruction
* Provide real-time behavioral redirection and support to maintain student focus and engagement
* Facilitate peer interactions and social integration within the general education setting
* Adapt general education materials and activities based on student IEP accommodations
* Collect observational data on student performance in the inclusive setting
* Support students in accessing grade-level curriculum with appropriate modifications
* Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and organization
### Pull-Out Services (Resource Room/Specialized Setting)
* Implement individualized instruction aligned with student IEP goals and objectives
* Administer teacher-directed activities, lessons, and interventions in a small group or one-on-one setting
* Provide intensive skill instruction in core academics, communication, social-emotional, or behavioral areas as assigned
* Use multi-sensory and evidence-based instructional strategies to support diverse learning needs
* Maintain organized and structured learning environments conducive to student success
* Manage materials, supplies, and technology resources in the resource setting
* Prepare students for transitions back to general education or community settings

* Monitor and redirect off-task or inappropriate behaviors using de-escalation techniques
* Reinforce student compliance with classroom expectations and routines
* Support crisis intervention or behavioral incidents following school protocol
* Maintain a calm, positive classroom environment
* Document behavioral incidents, triggers, and interventions as required
* Collaborate with the ESE teacher to identify patterns and develop behavioral strategies
* Model appropriate social interactions and communication
Communication and Documentation Duties
* Maintain accurate and timely records of student progress and behavioral observations
* Document instructional activities, student responses, and skill mastery
* Complete progress monitoring data sheets, anecdotal records, and incident reports as directed
* Communicate daily with the ESE teacher regarding student performance and concerns
* Share relevant information with general education teachers about student progress and needs
* Participate in IEP meetings and provide input on student progress and performance
* Maintain confidentiality of all student records and sensitive information
