The Elementary Reading Coach serves as an instructional leader who supports teachers in implementing high-quality literacy instruction and improving student achievement in reading.
Instructional Leadership:
Provide job-embedded professional development to teachers focused on evidence-based literacy practices.
Model effective reading instruction in classrooms.
Assist teachers with lesson planning, instructional strategies, and differentiation.
Support implementation of district-adopted reading curriculum and instructional materials.
Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) focused on literacy.
Coaching and Support:
Conduct coaching cycles with teachers, including pre-conferences, classroom observations, modeling, co-teaching, and reflective feedback.
Analyze classroom instructional practices and provide recommendations for improvement.
Support new teachers with literacy instruction and classroom management related to reading.
Collaborate with administrators to identify instructional needs and develop support plans.
Data Analysis and Student Achievement:
Analyze student assessment data to identify strengths, weaknesses, and instructional needs.
Assist teachers in using assessment data to plan targeted interventions.
Monitor student progress and support the development of intervention plans.
Help coordinate schoolwide literacy improvement efforts.
Intervention Support:
Assist in identifying students needing additional reading support.
Collaborate with interventionists, ESE teachers, and classroom teachers to ensure appropriate literacy interventions.
Monitor the effectiveness of reading interventions and recommend adjustments as needed.
