Responsibilities
  • Develop, coordinate, and launch statewide in-person, virtual, and online training programs that support the educational mission of FSU-IOG.
  • Serve as project lead for assigned training and professional development initiatives, managing programs from initial planning and curriculum development through implementation, evaluation, and completion.
  • Develop and refine original training content and curricula independently and in collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs), instructors, and external consultants.
  • Identify, recruit, vet, and coordinate qualified SMEs, instructors, and consultants to support training programs and professional development initiatives.
  • Facilitate live instructor-led training sessions in person and virtually and assist in developing recorded and interactive courses that incorporate lectures, assessments, activities, and supporting resources.
  • Manage program logistics and operations, including scheduling, registration, participant communications, training platforms, facilities, instructional materials, attendance, and certificates of completion.
  • Serve as a liaison with governmental agencies, educational institutions, professional associations, business and community partners, FSU-IOG affiliated entities, and other stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and expand training opportunities.
  • Pursue and coordinate accreditation or continuing education approval from relevant certifying organizations and professional associations when required.
  • Develop program descriptions and marketing copy and collaborate with the FSU-IOG marketing team to promote training opportunities consistent with organizational branding and communication standards.
  • Provide responsive, professional customer service to individuals participating in FSU-IOG training programs, including assistance with registration, course information, and online learning platforms.
  • Maintain and manage program records and reporting, including registrations, attendance, participant information, program revenue, evaluations, and other required documentation.
  • Coordinate and monitor program budgets, expenditures, contracts, and agreements with instructors, consultants, and vendors while ensuring compliance with applicable FSU and FSU-IOG policies and procedures.
  • Represent FSU-IOG at local, regional, and statewide meetings, training programs, conferences, and professional development events.
  • Provide on-site support for FSU-IOG conferences, training programs, and special events as needed.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned in support of FSU-IOG's programs, mission, and organizational objectives.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
  • A valid State of Florida or Georgia Driver's License or the ability to obtain prior to hire.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional experience in training and development, adult education, professional development, program coordination, project management, or a related field.
  • Experience developing, coordinating, and delivering in-person, virtual, and/or online training programs, including the use of instructional materials, visual aids, and learning technologies.
  • Experience working with subject matter experts, instructors, consultants, government professionals, professional associations, or similar stakeholders.
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, organizational, customer service, public speaking, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple programs, projects, deadlines, and priorities with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of event planning principles and experience coordinating, organizing, supporting, and evaluating meetings, training programs, conferences, and related events.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, virtual meeting platforms, and online learning or training technologies.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and provide on-site support for training programs, conferences, meetings, and other departmental events as needed.

The John Scott Dailey Florida Institute of Government (FSU-IOG) is seeking a highly motivated and organized Training Specialist to support the development, coordination, and delivery of high-quality professional training and educational programs for local and state government professionals, elected and appointed officials, public sector stakeholders, and professional association partners throughout Florida.

This position plays a key role in identifying emerging training needs, developing new statewide programs, coordinating subject matter experts and instructors, and managing training initiatives from concept through completion. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management, communication, customer service, and organizational skills and will be comfortable managing multiple programs and priorities simultaneously.
