Service Technician

A Diesel Technician is responsible for providing the highest quality repair services to Southport Truck Group's customers and maintaining exceptional customer service.

Essential Duties
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair general heavy and medium-duty trucks
• Document all repairs and pertinent information to the work performed and track job time on in-house business system(s) via a repair order
• Perform preventive maintenance as needed
• Tag and document all warranty and core items appropriately
• Assist other Technicians in more difficult and complex maintenance and repair tasks if needed
• Maintain and enhance mechanical knowledge and stay current on required OE training
• Adhere to procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials for which the role has responsibility
• Adhere to and promote stated policies and procedures relating to health and safety, security, and quality management. Recognize and report all accidents and hazardous conditions
• Quality Inspection tests on repaired vehicles
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned

Qualifications
• Experience working on heavy/medium duty trucks or formal training from technical school
• Diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment utilized within heavy/medium duty truck
• Possess work-related hand tools (not including heavy duty or diagnostic tools)
• A neat and organized approach to work & reporting
• Ability to operate maintenance equipment safely
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to meet attendance requirement
• Ability to spend prolonged periods of time standing or walking
• Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, walk and sit on a regular basis with frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds
• Ability to drive company and customer vehicles

Preferred
• Valid Class A or Class B, Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
