Riggers - Shipyard -1st & 2nd Shift

Gulf Marine Repair

Riggers Needed Day Shift available

The Rigger is responsible for the safe preparation, attachment, and movement of heavy loads in a shipyard environment. This role works closely with crane operators and supervisors to ensure all lifts are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with established procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and prepare rigging equipment, including slings, shackles, chains, and cables
  • Safely attach and secure loads for lifting, moving, and positioning
  • Signal and communicate effectively with crane operators during lifting operations
  • Calculate load weights, center of gravity, and proper rigging configurations
  • Assemble and disassemble rigging equipment as required
  • Inspect rigging gear before and after use to ensure safety and compliance
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

Minimum Requirements:
  • 2-4 years of rigging experience, preferably in a shipyard or marine environment
  • Strong understanding of rigging techniques, load calculations, and safe lifting practices
  • Ability to read and interpret lift plans and basic diagrams
  • Experience working with heavy equipment and large structural components
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in physically demanding conditions for extended periods
  • Comfortable working at heights and in varying weather conditions

Education & Certifications:
  • Rigging certification required (NCCER, NCCCO, or (equivalent preferred)
  • High school diploma or GED preferred

Work Environment: This position operates in a shipyard environment with exposure to outdoor weather conditions, heavy machinery, and high noise levels. Work may involve heights, confined spaces, and working near water.
